HERALD OF WANDS Heralds personify the opportunities that open up to us along life's path. Wands are the element of fire, and the chance opening here takes the form of some fascinating idea or proposal that we accept with enthusiasm. Usually this is an opportunity to step beyond the bounds of one's customary sphere of interests, an invitation to an adventure that demands courage and a willingness to take risks, a bright stroke against the backdrop of grey everyday life. It might well be, for example, participation in a competition, a sporting contest, some other opportunity to test one's strengths, some unusual experiences, a small "discovery of America."

PAGE OF SCEPTRES Someone who does not yet possess the STAFF, but dreams of expressing themselves precisely through it. This is a person yearning to develop within themselves the quality of the STAFFS, and therefore — with a feeling of the absence of power and of being deprived. At the same time, this is a person with good aptitudes and a promising personality for the world of STAFFS.

UPRIGHT POSITION Astrological equivalents: Venus, the sign of Libra, a person with a strongly pronounced Seventh House. In the upright position, the card usually indicates an honest person, loyally disposed toward you and toward the group of people you may represent. Often this is a friend whom you trust, or else a stranger with friendly intentions. This person is energetic and always achieves what they need. Not infrequently in a spread the PAGE OF SCEPTRES also appears as the bearer of important news, whose actions usually pertain to the social sphere. The PAGE OF SCEPTRES is a card combining within itself Mercurial and Venusian influence with a small Jupiterian overlay.

REVERSED POSITION Astrological equivalents: Saturn, afflicted by the unfavorable influence of other planets. The action of the reversed PAGE OF SCEPTRES can be compared with the action of Saturn, afflicted by the unfavorable aspects of other planets. This is a boy with a red beret tilted askew — an undeveloped character, a weak position, a sense of being deprived, a simulation of a firm stance founded on the burning desire to develop this stance within oneself — someone who cannot rely on themselves.
