Princess of Cups

Валет Кубков

Meanings according to Rider-Waite:

ASTROLOGICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Venus in the 1st house as an occasion for reconciliation, or in the 5th house as the pleasure of play.

PRINCESS OF CUPS Like the other three Princesses, the Princess of Cups personifies a certain impulse, a push, a chance. In this case, it may be an invitation to take part in some pleasant undertaking or a gesture of love and reconciliation. Either way, it is an initiative coming from others that appeals to our feelings, and we accept it with joy and gratitude. The card represents the beginning of peace after a quarrel or conflict, sympathy shown to us in a difficult time, and sometimes someone's heartfelt impulse that turns into love for us. This impulse is, as a rule, pure and sincere, and only if other cards indicate the contrary should it be treated with caution.

PAGE OF CUPS The PAGE OF CUPS symbolizes a persistent person, eager for knowledge. This person takes everything happening around them very seriously. He is thoughtful and contemplative. He may possess very great sensitivity. Often this card indicates a person with a poetic cast of mind, or else a person inclined toward meditation, contemplation, practicing one or another method of spiritual self-improvement.

UPRIGHT POSITION Astrological equivalents: Virgo, Pisces, the planets Venus and Neptune. Usually this is a person loyally disposed toward you. He is always ready to offer you his help and services when it concerns one specific task or another. This person is very hardworking, diligent, and can fully be relied upon.

REVERSED POSITION Astrological equivalents: Virgo, Pisces, and Venus in Virgo. The reversed PAGE OF CUPS indicates a scatterbrained person, incapable of concentration, of perseverance, of persistent and monotonous labor. Or, on the contrary, this person is excessively focused on one thing and fanatical about it. The reversed PAGE OF CUPS may indicate a person with peculiarities, with certain deviations. His social standing may at times be uncertain. In the extreme case, this card can symbolize an ordinary vulgarian, very far removed from spirituality.

If the card denotes an action. A. Upright card The emotion, the feeling represented by the following cards has fully taken shape and is ready for its expression. All that remains is to express it. If the matter concerns intuition, one or another form of foresight, then the PAGE OF CUPS may symbolize the confirmation of suppositions based on premonitions.

B. Reversed card There is a tendency to regard the reversed PAGE OF CUPS as the antipode of the upright. The emotions are not realized. Everything is very tenuous and hazy.
